I never update, but I need to vent.
Why? Why does America need to fuck itself over all the time? People vote based on "moral values," but who the hell in America has any? Who are these people that apparently can't see past their "moral values"? And why the fuck are these "values" more important to people than jobs? Seriously, the only reason that I can recognize as partially sane to vote for Bush is those 2% of people who didn't want their taxes to be higher. If that's the only thing you care about, okay, voting for Bush makes some type of sense. Other than that, I just don't get it.
Now, I just really hope something happens to kick Americans in the ass and make them see that we need to do stem cell research now. Current Mood: crushed

Las Vegas — Hotel heiress Nicky Hilton married a New York money manager before dawn Sunday in an impromptu ceremony, according to court filings obtained by The Associated Press.
Hilton, 20, married Todd Meister, 33, at the Las Vegas Wedding Chapel, according a Clark County marriage licence. A woman who answered the telephone at the chapel declined comment.
Access Hollywood, which first reported the wedding, said older sister Paris Hilton and actress Bijou Phillips were present during the 2:30 a.m. ceremony.
The Hilton sisters were in town for a Stuff magazine party at the Palms Casino Resort, where they were joined by Meister and Nicole Ritchie for dinner late Saturday, resort owner George Maloof said.
Maloof, who confirmed the ceremony had taken place, said the couple gave no indication of their plans.
Nicky Hilton has dabbled in acting, appearing in Wishman in 1991 and presenting at MTV award shows. Current Mood: shocked

What is this bullshit? Why is LaToya leaving American Idol? I have not been very interested in this season overall, but I thought LaToya was the best by far. This is some retarded bullshit. Though I guess I shouldn't complain much since I haven't been exercising my power to vote.
I have my last final tomorrow at 1 o'clock, thank God. I'm so ready for school to be over. Not quite ready to go home and be done with freshman year, but ready to be done with the work.

I just successfully purchased tickets for the Corrs at Jones Beach on ticketmaster.com. I think this is the first time the website has not been a bitch and has given me good tickets. Kristen, we have tickets in the seventh row! I am happy. And not hungover anymore. Today is much better than yesterday so far.

Thanks to Kristen, I just spent 15 minutes getting yelled at by a virtual Kirk Cameron. Click here
to have Kirk Cameron tell you that you're going to hell and that God hates you. It's really fucked up.

Is there just something wrong with the Hilton family? I mean, besides the obvious? Like, are they mutants? Now Rick and Kathy Hilton are planning a reality show for NBC, in which they'll plunk down some trailer trash in their NYC apartment and make them classy... you know, classy, just like the Hilton family.

My room and the whole dorm smell like mildew. There are
worms in the city. I hate rain. It's so disgusting and it just needs to stop now.
I have to write a psychology paper, which won't be so bad if I can just get started, and study for my biology lab final. The final isn't until Friday, so I have some time, but I really want to study properly and do well because I have the potential to get a good grade in this class. I'm just really sick of work and school in general. I'm definitely ready to go home. This is the last week of classes, thank God, then there's a study week, then finals week. There's not much time left, which is good, but there's so much I need to get done in such a short period of time that it's really overwhelming.
I'm just in a bad mood and I think I'll be in a bad mood until school is over, which sucks. I'd like to just go see Melanie B, which I know will make me completely happy for a few hours, but when I think about losing a few hours, it doesn't seem like that happiness will be worth the time I'll be losing from doing work. Current Mood: gloomy

We saw Melanie B again last night. I'm ready to go back again now. She was a lot worse vocally than she was on Monday night, which makes me sad. Her acting was great again, though.
After the show, Lauren and I each got a Melanie B stash! There were two just sitting there. One must have been left from the previous show. When we went outside, there were barricades set up. Melanie stayed out signing things for a long time, probably about a half hour. Lauren and I got out stashes signed, and Mel asked if she'd thrown them at us, but we told her we took them from the stage. She then told us not to get in trouble for having those in our bags, as they could be mistaken for real. We got to tell her how good we think she is, which was nice. Although she kept saying that she'd get better, and we were like, "no, seriously, we've seen like 7 other Mimis, you're good." We wanted to get a picture with us, our stashes, and Melanie, but we didn't... so that's the goal for next time.

|My thoughts on MELANIE B
So I still don't think I'm fully aware of the fact that I saw Scary fucking Spice on stage, at the Neder, performing two feet in front of my face. I think it's fairly obvious how much I love the Spice Girls, but I don't think I can even comprehend how special it was to me to get to see her, even after I've seen her, so I'm sure no one else really gets it either. So, seeing Melanie B performing live and seeing her in Rent... could life be better? I really don't think I could ask for a better combination of things. Jesus Christ, it is just so wonderful.
I absolutely adored Melanie's Mimi... perhaps it was largely based on my insane amount of pre-love, but she was so convincing on stage that I feel like I really did and could judge her as a Mimi because when she was up there I believed that she was Mimi. I really wasn't expecting to feel this way. I thought I would love her for being Melanie B, but I seriously thought her Mimi was amazing. I do have crazy amounts of love for Melanie as a performer and a person, but I also have crazy amounts of love for Rent and Mimi, and I've seen quite a few performers as Mimi, so I think that I have the authority to make the judgment that she was really, really good.
Before the show, we peered through the cracks in the doors and saw her rehearsing Out Tonight. She sounded great but cracked on the last Out Tonight, so I went into the show thinking she would crack and be terrible throughout the whole show. I was pleasantly surprised. Her voice is not the strongest, but I definitely think it's better and more clear than Dom's voice. If I had to compare her voice to any Mimi's, my choice would be Dom, but Melanie cracked once at the end of Another Day, which is far less than I've heard Dom crack any of the times I've seen her.
While Melanie's voice impressed me because I had been prepared for terrible vocals, her acting absolutely blew me away. I thought she would suck most at acting, because, please, have you seen Spice World? I think her interpretation of Mimi was the best I have ever seen. She was crazy and cracked out in Light My Candle and Out Tonight, which reminded me a lot of Dom's Mimi. Then in Another Day, she was such a bitch! Jeremy gets crazy angry, but she was even more angry than him... Mimi had girl power! This reminded me of Antonique's Mimi, which I love more than anything, so I was thrilled with Mel's Mimi's ghetto bitchiness. She and Jeremy had really good chemistry, and she had good chemistry with the rest of the cast too. Mel's and Jeremy's interactions were always highly emotional... either really sweet or really intense and angry, which was perfect because it let the audience understand the actions that Mimi and Roger take throughout the show, which sometimes seem out of character or just plain crazy.
Yeah, so Melanie is my second favorite Mimi, after Antonique. She was just so good.
The rest of the show was good, too. Kristen Lee Kelly was absolutely hilarious in Over the Moon. It was definitely the funniest OTM I've seen. Matt was being an asshole. Some of the shit he does is funny, but a lot of it pisses me off because he makes Mark become a caricature of traits that I'm not even sure Mark was intended to have. It was grand that Dom was on as Mark's mom because when they were singing "follow the man..." in Christmas Bells, it sounded really funny with Dom's accent and Melanie's accent.
After the show, we saw Phoenix Chi! I was so happy. She is the cutest baby. Melanie's mom was there too. We didn't get to talk to Melanie because one big group of fans spent about 10 minutes with her, then this asshole paparazzi man took a picture of Phoenix, who was climbing out the window of the car she was in, and Mel yelled at him a lot, then got in the car. Lauren and I handed her our flowers for her as she got in the car, and she thanked us. I really just wanted to tell her that I thought she was great, but we'll be going back on Thursday, so hopefully we'll get to talk to her then. Current Mood: happy
|Melanie B = amazing
I will write about the show later... now I have to read half of Faulkner's The Bear for Engish, which starts at 10:25. Great. Anyway... ahhhhhhhh! Melanie B!

Dear Graduate Student TAs,

There's a better version of the Mel B Rent radio commercial up online. If you've listened to the first one that was put up or haven't heard it at all, go to http://www.spicegirlsbrowser.cjb.net/
It makes my heart smile. "Wannabe" and "Out Tonight" are played in the same 60 seconds... it's so wonderful. And you can totally hear her kick ass accent while she's singing "Out Tonight". Even though I'm worrying that she won't go on tomorrow night, I'm getting really fucking excited. Current Mood: bouncy

So last night I had about 25 panic attacks. Real panic attacks, I think. Every time I would start to fall asleep, I kept feeling like the mouse was on me and I would stop breathing, and then start sweating and gasping for air. It was so awful. I called my mom before and told her I need Valium, but she said I can't have any.
Completely unrelated, but if anyone has pictures of me on your computers, could you please email them to me? I need to upload a picture of myself to this friendster type thing that Columbia has and I don't have any pictures of only myself here at school. Current Mood: distressed
